MANDELA DAY IN THE WITZENBERG COMMUNITIES |
July 2020
Mandela Day 2020 was celebrated amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, serving as a reminder that we all need to work together and contribute to building better and safer communities throughout our country. With this in mind, Perdekraal East Wind Farm has put their support behind the local NPO, Witz Event Network which supports vulnerable households, including those affected by tuberculosis, the elderly and other community members in the Witzenberg Area.
The wind farm once again assisted, through the NPO, to provide cooked meals, serving no fewer than 100 youth and 100 community members in the towns of Ceres, Nduli, Bella Vista and Prince Alfred Hamlet.
In addition to the cooked meals, hampers containing fruit juice, sanitizers, soap and fabric face masks were handed out, as a reminder for everyone to adhere to precautionary safety measures that will help to reduce the spread of the pandemic.
“We managed to distribute 100 tasty hamburgers for youth and children, in addition to the cooked meals for the elderly,” said Warrick Alexander, Centre Manager at Witz Event Network.
