CERES NURSES HONOURED

September 2026.

Healthcare workers at Ceres clinics were given an opportunity to focus on their own wellbeing during a Women’s Wellness Day hosted for Department of Health staff serving the local community. The initiative, a partnership between Perdekraal East Wind Farm and the Department of Health, extends the focus on women’s health beyond Women’s Month and supports the wellbeing of those providing essential healthcare services to local residents.

“Healthcare workers across the community clinics carry much of the responsibility for frontline healthcare in the area. They work long and often demanding shifts while continuing to care for the broader community. We wanted to recognise that contribution by creating an opportunity for them to step away from their daily responsibilities, focus on their own wellbeing and be cared for in return. It is a small way of acknowledging the important role they play in the health and wellbeing of the Ceres community,” explained Rouchet Daniels, Economic Development Manager, Perdekraal East Wind Farm.

The programme took a holistic approach to wellness, covering physical, nutritional, mental and emotional health. A dietitian provided practical guidance on everyday nutrition, while a physiotherapist led an interactive movement and stretching session designed to help nurses manage the physical demands of their work.

An arts and crafts instructor guided participants through painting and vision-board activities, providing an opportunity to relax, reflect and express themselves. Nurses also received care packs, shared a healthy meal and enjoyed a performance by the Siyavuya Choir.

The initiative reflects the value of collaboration between Perdekraal East Wind Farm and the Department of Health in supporting the people who provide essential services to the Ceres community. By focusing on the wellbeing of healthcare workers themselves, the initiative recognised the important contribution they make to the broader health of the community.

“Women’s Month may be over, but our appreciation for the women who serve our community continues. The nurses at our Ceres clinics care for others every day, often under pressure, and we wanted to give them an opportunity to focus on their own wellbeing. We value our partnership with the Department of Health and look forward to continuing to support the people who serve our community,” concluded Daniels.
